Developing coaching skills to improve performance

Coaching helps people to achieve their potential.  It is a process where one person enables others to learn and develop through a process of discovery, guided discussion and hands-on experience. The key to success lies in the skills and attitudes of the coach. Managers who can coach effectively are invaluable assets to any organisation. They can motivate and develop their people in a way that delivers continuously improved performance.

Coaching has distinctive benefits as a way of training and developing your people:

- It relates directly to the job the person is doing and therefore improves their competence- It does not require time away from work- It can demonstrate to managers that time spent with their people can result in performance improvement if they know how to do it!

At Middle Aston House, our two-day programme helps coaches to develop their skills and build their confidence through a thorough understanding the principles and opportunities to practise their learning using practical projects. Delegates leave the course with plans to implement their learning back at work and we remain in contact with them to help guide them through any difficulties they may encounter.

As with our other programmes, we recognise that to provide real value to our customers, we need to understand their situation, provide services that meet their needs and remain available to ensure successful implementation. As providers of personal coaching services to senior managers, we have the skills and experience to train others.
